Promote and Foster Research into
Heart-Brain Interactions.

A key aim of the Society is to foster and promote research related to the anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of heart-brain interactions, and the practical areas of better diagnosis and treatment of conditions arising from interactions between the heart and the brain. The Society for Heart-Brain Medicine believes that the dissemination of information at conferences, symposia and in publications specifically devoted to heart-brain medicine will further research into these important areas. By acting as a forum bringing together researchers from the basic sciences, neurology, cardiology and psychiatry, increased awareness of the impact of different disciplines on our understanding of these relationships will foster collaborative research. This has been hampered up to now by the separation of research findings into distinct publications exclusive to individual disciplines (e.g. neurology, cardiology). The provision of a specific forum for discussion and for publication of research will therefore be of considerable benefit. Heart-brain research is by nature multidisciplinary and therefore urgently requires the umbrella of an organization to foster and promote it in one arena accessible to people from different disciplines. Additionally, the availability of a web-based literature resource under the auspices of  the Society for Heart-Brain Medicine will greatly help by consolidating original research publications and reviews in one spot, as opposed to the current dispersion of this material which consequently makes sources hard to find. The web site will also provide contact information for various researchers and research groups promoting collaborative and multidisciplinary research interactions.
